Pilot Notes:

General: The P-51X is a large and powerful model that feels comfortable and predictable both on the ground and in the air.

Speed management: Speed bleeding is excessively high at idle RPM due to the large prop-disc. Stall is aggressive and provides little warning. Low speed flight can feel deceptively controlled right up to the break. Do not be fooled by the apparent stability at reduced speed as the aircraft will appear fully manageable until it isn't. The stall is accompanied by an aggressive wing drop which is unrecoverable at low altitude. Keep the speed up, always.

On landing, be aware of propstrike, particularly when touching down with full flaps deployed. The reduced ground clearance in the tail-wheel configuration leaves little margin on touchdown. Plan your flare accordingly and execute a mild nose-high to 3-points touchdown when possible (paved runways for example).

Controls: Switch to dual rates and/or expo for scale flying.
