  7. Gear Brakes

Pilot Notes:

General: The XB-70X is a docile and draggy aircraft. At speed it flies with solid stability and predictable response. At slow speeds it feels light and very predictable.

Controls: Dual rates are recommended for scale flying.

Power/Energy management: requires constant balancing act. The high drag profile combined with relatively low weight for its size demands higher power settings than the aircraft's appearance suggests during normal flight. Speed bleeds off quickly and effortlessly when power is reduced. Unpowered glide produces extensive drag from the six standing 90mm EDF units and energy bleeds off fast.

At low speed the XB-70X tolerates high AOA without stalling. On landing, manage nose attitude carefully to avoid tail strike. During high speed passes, use dual-rates and avoid abrupt pull-ups. The airframe will follow the input and structural limits can be exceeded leading to catastrophic structural failure.
