VSKYLABS RC B-2X Spirit

TWIN TURBINE - 1:12 SCALE - CHALLENGING - REQUIRES DUAL-RATES/EXPO CONTROL MODES
SCALE FLIGHT - HIGH SPEED PASSES - LIMITED STABILITY

Model data:

Type: Giant-Scale RC Model based on the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber
Scale: 1:12
Wingspan: 4.35 m (171.2 inches)
Weight: No-fuel: 45 lbs / 20.5 Kg
Fuel: ~5.7 Liter / 10 lbs
Engine: 2 x JetCat P100-RX Class turbines (22.5 lbs / 10.2 kg per engine)
Fuel consumption: 350 ml/min / 5.55 gal/h (full power, per engine).
Performance/Limitations: Maximum speed: 90 knots / 104 mph / 167 km/h (sea level, full power, straight and level). Vne: 100 knots / 115 mph / 185 km/h. Note: top speed is inherently limited by the constant spoileron deployment required for directional stability and control (a characteristic of the type rather than a power deficiency). This is a scale bomber, not a maneuvering aircraft; use only smooth and deliberate.

Channels:

  1. Throttle
  2. Rudder
  3. Elevator
  4. Ailerons
  5. Control modes (Full, Dual-Rates/Expo) - Mandatory for realistic flying.
  6. Gears
  7. Gear-brakes

Pilot Notes:

Controls: Switch to dual rates and/or expo after takeoff and before final. Pitch response is highly sensitive in full control throws mode. Do not try to rotate early during the takeoff run. On your first takeoff - use measured pitch up input and wait for rotation. It is highly recommended to switch to Dual-Rates and/or Expo control models right after takeoff. Use full mode during landing.

General: The B-2X is a challenging flying wing, suited for scale flying. It requires anticipation and thoughtful inputs at all times, especially in the pitch axis.

Roll and yaw axes are sluggish by nature, with a tendency for oscillations in yaw if rudder inputs are abrupt. Stability is maintained by continuously deployed spoilerons on each wingtip, combined with mild gyro assistance in the yaw axis, which allows the model to depart if flown aggressively.

The model enters high AOA territory easily at low speeds, and can exceed maximum structural limit with abrupt pull at high speeds. Monitor nose attitude carefully especially in slow flight speed. There is little warning before the situation becomes unrecoverable.
