VSKYLABS RC Ju-52X Tante Ju

3 x PROP - 1:4.8 SCALE - CHALLENGING
SCALE FLIGHT - COORDINATED FLIGHT - NOT FOR BEGINNERS

Model data:

Type: Giant-Scale RC Model based on the J-52 Aircraft
Scale: 1:4.8
Length: 3.95 m (12.95 feet)
Wingspan: 6.08 m (19.94 feet)
Weight: No-fuel: 213 lbs / 96.6 Kg
Fuel: 2.45 L / 4 lbs.
Engine: 3xSaito FG-90R3 type / ~6.5 hp each at around 7000 RPM.
Propeller: 3 x 2-blade (25 x 18 simulated)
Fuel consumption: Approximately 40 ml/min or 0.63 GPH (at full power) Performance/Limitations: Maximum speed: 60 knots / 69 mph / 111 km/h (sea level, full power, straight and level). Vne: 70 knots / 81 mph / 130 km/h. Note: the Ju 52 is a scale aircraft; corrugated skin, fixed undercarriage, three radial nacelles, and a massive wing combine to produce a model that is impressive in the air precisely because it looks and flies like the real thing. High-g inputs at high speed risk structural overload on a model of this weight and wingspan. This aircraft was designed for scale flying.

Channels:

  1. Throttle
  2. Rudder
  3. Elevator
  4. Ailerons
  5. Flaps

Pilot Notes:

General: The Ju-52X is one of the most refined-flying models in RCE Vol.1. A massive, heavy aircraft with a 20-foot wingspan and an optimal size-to-weight ratio. It is highly responsive, predictable, and an absolute pleasure to fly.

Being a taildragger, ground handling requires the standard discipline. Feed in up elevator during taxi to keep the tail down, and manage ailerons into the wind during crosswind operations.

Speed management: Its enormous size demands attention on approach. Speed judgment is deceptive as the aircraft will appear to be at an appropriate approach speed while carrying more energy than expected, resulting in a late or long touchdown. It is highly recommended to practice at least one approach and go-around before committing to your first full landing. Build the visual references first.

Slow flight characteristics are solid and predictable, with one important note: Aileron inputs generate significant induced drag at low speed, which can lead to chasing the aircraft for wings-level flight. Feed in coordinated rudder input to counter the drag imbalance and maintain coordinated flight throughout the approach.

Three-point landings are fully supported and recommended.

Controls: Full control mode can be used comfortably throughout normal flight. For smooth and scale high speed flying, engage dual rates or expo.
